Hector C. Molina

Hector C. Molina has a distinguished career of over 35 years in Hispanic electronic media and as a presenter and producer at national and international level. He is a pioneer in Spanish-language radio, co-producing and hosting the first national radio program in Spanish in the USA for National Public Radio; developed and presented training workshops and seminars for news production, programming development for radio throughout the US for Latino producers and in Latin America, in Honduras, Chile, Uruguay. Locally, he has hosted and produced radio programs for KPBS radio, Radio Latina and Radio Z-13 in Tijuana, co-founded the first radio and television broadcast school for Spanish speakers in San Diego (1994-2001), training numerous professionals working now in the area.

Additionally, Mr. Molina has assisted various communities in the establishment of non-profit, community-owned radio stations. In television, he has been sports and news anchor, production, and station manager, most recently at Univision TV San Diego. Mr. Molina is an active promoter of international civic, cultural, educational, and business relations at local, state, and national levels. He has participated in the founding of various business, civic and educational non-profit organizations such as the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Association of Parents and University Students, San Diego Global Educational Institute, San Diego Global University (an online university), the local chapter of California Chicano News Media Association, and the Latino Builders Development Corporation.

Mr. Molina has received many recognitions for his work such as the Ruben Salazar Media Award for excellence in Journalism from the National Council of La Raza, the Chicano News Media Association’s Pluma Award for Lifetime Achievement; The San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Spirit of the Hispanic Chamber Award; KPBS/UBOC Local Hero Award, and many others.

Mr. Molina received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Latin American Literature from the University of California, Davis.
