KURS 1040-AM is having technical transmission difficulties. The antenna used by them and other stations was severely damaged a few years ago, and installing a new one has been a challenge in obtaining permits causing the work to proceed very slowly. The recent rains set back their progress to the point that difficulties in transmission became very evident to us. We had favored KURS due to the stations ownership being individuals from Baja California who believe, as we do, that Baja deserves far better than what the US media reports.
KURS is working diligently to resolve the transmission problems and expects to have the signals broadcasted without the present static and other interruptions it now experiences within 3 to 4 weeks. Thus The Baja Connection will be off the air for that period.
Meantime we are investigating the possibility of continuing to transmit over the internet independent of KURS. The reach of the internet has proven to be of great value as the program has received numerous e-mails from regions and states where the radio signal does not reach.
We will keep you posted on our progress and when the program goes back on the air.
